Thinking Of Getting A Leather Sofa Bed?
Many people like the luxurious feel and look of leather sofas and chairs. Not only do look good but they are very practical for families since fur, hair and dust can be more easily removed from leather than soft fabrics. The same goes for spilling things. A quick wipe and it's gone without all that need for dabbing and fabric cleaner.
However people also have to contend with homes that are not quite as big as they would like. Most of us would like a spare room, one where visitors can stay. Unfortunately this isn't an option for many people so why not maximise the use of your furniture and buy a leather sofa bed?
Say sofa bed and most people will visualise a traditional fabric covered sofa with a foldout bed. Although not so common leather sofa beds are available in a range of styles and colours. So you don't have to forego your desire for a leather sofa simply because you need to get a sofa bed for your frequent visitors.
What you'll probably want to choose is a sofa that doesn't look like a sofa bed. Luckily these days better design means that few have that clunky sofa bed look. You can even get leather chesterfield sofa beds that look almost exactly the same as normal chesterfield.
Something to consider is how big you want the leather sofa bed to be when folded and unfolded. Some sofa beds provide a sleeping area by folding down the back of sofa so that that back and the seating part form a mattress for the person or persons to sleep on. Remember with this type you are going to have to pull the sofa forwards every time it's used if it's near the wall.
Many sofa beds opt for a simple fold-out mechanism to create the sleeping area which usually needs a bit of tug to get things moving once you've remove the seat cushions.
An option that's growing in popularity is the corner sofa. Big sofas are in vogue at the moment and some are designed to be used as sofa beds. Normally the sleeping extension part is pulled out of the front of the sofa. Often in such cases the chaise part of the sofa will conceal a storage area to put bedding and pillows in.
So when choosing a leather sofa bed consider the style and colour, the way it fits in with any other leather furniture you may have in the room and how often it's going to get used as bed. If it is only for occasional use then you want to choose your sofa be as a comfortable sofa first and a bed last. If however you intend to use it on a regular basis as a bed you'll need to consider the comfort and durability of the sleep part of the sofa over the comfort of the seating.
